Gone

 My sweet little Karlie is gone.

Beulah was the smartest dog I ever owned but Karlie was not far behind her and honestly, she was the best dog I ever had.  

I owned is a bit of a misnomer...she actually owned me and right now I am incredibly sad she is gone.

She was always there when I got home.  So happy to see me.  She spent every night snuggling in bed.  Where she started as a scared little rescue, she became the best dog.  I know she is with Beulah now and I buried her right next to Beulah's grave.  

Her last few hours were spent in misery and when I ended her misery, she wagged her tail as if to thank me.  I know this is in my head, but it actually makes it harder to think of such a thing.
